About this Presentation

The main reason for universal cervical screening by self-sampling from July 2022 onwards in Australia is to increase participation in those who are currently under-represented in the cervical screening program. There are now reliable HPV tests and self-sampling is accurate for the detection of HPV, but not for cytology of cervical cells. All suitable women eligible for cervical screening should now be offered the choice between the two screening methods. Doctors must be familiar with the criteria for suitability regarding self-sampling.
